Our story starts with two good friends running together and the rest is history! Kelly wanted to start a running club for all types of runners. Cathie wanted to gather runners from near and far for one race every year and maybe raise funds for a charity. We know that running creates an instant connection among enthusiasts and dabblers alike and both want to cultivate that connection. These two ideas came together, where else, but on the trail. We both have friends who run, we are friends who run. It seemed fitting that we call ourselves just what we are: Friends Who Run!!
It seems so easy to connect with others of similar interests, backgrounds and careers, but when do we really connect? When do we meet and see each other face to face, shake hands, hug and truly share our lives? Through our local running club, and hopefully joining with others around the country, these friends want to connect! We want to see those friends who are training for a race, those friends who are just starting exercise with a walking routine, and those friends who would just like to travel to a fun place. We want to see how many “runners” we can assemble at one race each year. This, alone, sounds fun, right? Let’s take it farther; give it a purpose other than fun (which it will be). Come together, runners, walkers, families, friends and anyone who wants to contribute, and make something happen. Even if we don’t all “raise funds”, if those of us who get together for the race donate ten dollars each, we can make a difference. Just think of all the friends you communicate with via email or social media. Think of all those who run, walk, and exercise for other causes. Now, think if we pool all that energy and positive attitude which comes from running. The numbers could really be infinite and the potential to help an organization or cause is great.
